Vocabulary This lesson is all about weather. The word for "weather" is "emshyr." The way to ask "is it?" is "vel eh?" You can also ask "is the weather?" by saying "vel yn emshyr?" The way to say "it's not" is "cha nel eh" and the way to say "the weather is not" is "cha nel yn emshyr." The way to say "it is" is "t'eh" and the way to say "the weather is" we use "ta'n emshyr," which combined with words for weather gives:
The way to say "raining" and "snowing" uses two words. The first word means "throwing" and the second word is either "snow" ("sniaghtey") or "rain" ("fliaghey"). Altogether we're actually saying "it's throwing snow" and "it's throwing rain," a bit like saying "it's chucking it down" in English. Combining what we learned in our first lesson about feelings, we can also use "kys ta'n emshyr?" to say "how's the weather?"
